Computer and Mobile Collide
With the daily advancements in the mobile arena, it's only a matter of time until the same issues which plaque the computer world begin to grab hold of popular mobile devices.
The mobile devices are gaining features which allow their users to perform more advanced functions without being tethered to their desktop or laptop computers.
Not only are the issues of viruses foreseen, but other common issues as MMS (text message) spam may be on the horizon.
Already software companies are beginning to roll out packages to defend and protect today's mobile devices. Large security companies such as Trend Micro, Symantec, F-Secure and Kaspersky have developed mobile packages to help fight and remove viruses and MMS spam.
The one thing stopping the spread of mobile viruses at the moment is most likely the different operating systems for each of the devices. It would be much more appetizing for a virus creator to see a single platform used for many devices. Google's Android package may provide this baseline for multiple devices thus providing virus programmers a more broad user base to focus on. The same has happened with Microsoft Windows family. Since the operating system has been the baseline for a broad base of users, it was a fantastic target for many virus creators.
The mobile industry is just blooming and it should be a fun ride. So create an account and stay tuned.
